NIDCR Drug, Biologic, Device and/or Procedure Intervention Clinical Trial Planning and Implementation Cooperative Agreement (UG3/UH3 Clinical Trial Required)
This funding opportunity supports a wide range of organizations in planning and conducting clinical trials focused on improving dental, oral, and craniofacial health interventions.
Description
The NIH’s National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) invites applications for its Drug, Biologic, Device, and/or Procedure Intervention Clinical Trial Planning and Implementation Cooperative Agreement (PAR-25-057). This opportunity, structured as a phased UG3/UH3 cooperative agreement, aims to support the planning and execution of clinical trials focused on interventions relevant to dental, oral, and craniofacial health. The UG3 phase funds essential trial planning, while successful completion of UG3 phase milestones qualifies the project for UH3 phase funding to implement the clinical trial. A clinical trial is required for this opportunity, emphasizing its focus on actionable interventions within the NIDCR’s mission.
Eligible applicants include a diverse set of entities, such as public and private higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations (excluding small businesses), various government entities, and special district governments. Additional eligible organizations include tribal governments, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs), and other minority-serving institutions. Although non-U.S. organizations are not eligible to apply, foreign components within U.S.-based organizations are permitted under NIH policy.
There is no requirement for cost-sharing or matching funds, enhancing accessibility for applicants. NIH’s involvement as a cooperative agreement offers direct support and collaboration, facilitating close oversight and resources from NIDCR as projects progress through the phases. While the NIH has not provided a specific award ceiling or total funding, this phased approach enables efficient and goal-oriented development of clinical trial projects.
The application deadline is January 6, 2028, providing a broad window for planning and submission. Once closed, the opportunity will be archived on February 11, 2028. Interested applicants should review the full guidelines in the official NIH announcement and contact NIH Grants Information for additional support or clarification as needed. This funding opportunity is ideal for organizations aiming to advance research in dental, oral, and craniofacial health through clinical trial development and implementation.
