Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP)
This program provides funding to local governments and non-profit organizations for projects that improve water quality, enhance flood resilience, and protect drinking water sources across the state.
Description
The Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) program is a competitive, statewide reimbursement grant program open to local governments and not-for-profit corporations to implement projects that directly improve water quality or habitat, promote flood risk reduction, restoration, and enhanced flood and climate resiliency, or protect a drinking water source. The funding is for construction/implementation projects, not planning projects. A minimum of $75 million is available for this program. Eligible projects include wastewater treatment improvement, non-agricultural nonpoint source abatement and control, land acquisition for source water protection, salt storage and road salt reduction, dam safety repair/rehabilitation and dam removal, aquatic connectivity restoration, and more.
