Henry and Louise Timken Foundation Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations and government entities in Stark County for community projects focused on medical vision services, aviation, and the arts.
Description
The Henry and Louise Timken Foundation is a supporting foundation affiliated with the Stark Community Foundation. It is overseen by a seven-member Board of Trustees and primarily awards charitable grants for the benefit of the Stark County community. The Foundation transitioned from a private foundation to a supporting foundation in 1980 and has since played a vital role in funding various community projects, including downtown Canton redevelopment efforts.
The Foundation supports nonprofit organizations and government entities that have been established for at least three years. Preference is given to organizations with a strong presence in Stark County, as well as programs that focus on medical vision services, aviation, and the arts. Grants are awarded to initiatives that directly benefit the Stark County community. However, funding is not provided for organizations seeking support for more than three consecutive years, nor for deficit financing or capital expenditures.
Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt entities under IRS code 501(c)(3) and recognized as public charities. Applications must be submitted online through the Stark Community Foundation’s Grant Portal. The deadline for submissions is May 2, 2025. Grant award decisions will be made in June 2025, and applicants will be notified of the Board’s decision by mail.
Organizations that receive funding from the Henry and Louise Timken Foundation must complete an evaluation report at the end of the grant period. This report must include a written narrative detailing the impact of the grant, as well as financial documentation of how the grant funds were used. Failure to submit this report may affect future funding eligibility.
For questions regarding the grant application process, applicants can contact Grants Manager and Program Officer Dana S. Johnson via phone at 234-458-2915 or by email at djohnson@starkcf.org. Additional information about the foundation and its funding opportunities is available through the Stark Community Foundation website.
