Metropolitan Arts Council

This funding opportunity supports public and certified private schools in Greenville County, South Carolina, to implement arts education projects that enhance student learning and cultural appreciation.

Description

The Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC), located in Greenville, South Carolina, supports all disciplines of the arts in the region through various programs and funding initiatives. One of its key programs is the School Quarterly Project Grants Program, which is designed to integrate arts education into the standard curriculum and foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of the arts among students in Greenville County.

The primary purpose of the School Quarterly Project Grants is to support schools in executing arts-related enhancement activities. These may include in-school and after-school programs, artist residencies, performances, exhibitions, and arts classes. The goal is to elevate arts education as a fundamental part of the student learning experience and enrich the cultural development of students in Greenville County.

Eligible applicants for this grant include public and certified private schools located in Greenville County, South Carolina. Schools must have no outstanding previous MAC project grants at the time of application. Each school may submit only one application per quarter and can receive a maximum of two grants within a calendar year. Furthermore, a project must be fully developed and budgeted with confirmed dates, times, and venues; MAC will not consider conceptual projects or accept multiple funding applications for the same project in separate quarters.

Each grant offers up to $2,000 in funding, contingent on a 1:1 cash match by the applicant. In-kind contributions are not accepted for the match requirement. This match must be reflected in the budget, and no project can be supported by two separate quarterly grants. Schools must submit a final report for any awarded grant before becoming eligible to apply again.

Starting in 2025, applications for this grant must be submitted online by 12:00 am on the respective quarterly deadline dates. Mailed or faxed applications are no longer accepted. The deadlines for 2025 are as follows: February 14 for projects starting May–July; May 15 for projects beginning August–October; August 15 for projects running from November 2024 to January 2026; and November 14 for projects starting February–April 2026.

The program is coordinated through the principal of the applying school, who is responsible for application submissions, grant scheduling, and ensuring timely final reporting. MAC emphasizes thorough planning and requires the application to reflect a clear and confirmed project structure.
