Health & Human Services in New Mexico
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations and public agencies in specific New Mexico counties to improve community health and safety through services related to housing, food security, healthcare, and senior well-being.
Description
The grant program aims to support organizations working to enhance the health and safety of communities by improving key outcomes such as access to affordable housing, food security, safety, health care, and senior services. Funding is available for initiatives that directly provide services, engage in policy advocacy, or support collaborative efforts to address these critical needs. The grant prioritizes strategies that tackle homelessness and at-risk housing, food access, community safety, health services, environmental conditions, and senior well-being. Additionally, initiatives that focus on systemic change through public policy, civic engagement, and community organizing to enhance health and well-being will also be considered.
Eligible applicants must be based in or serve the communities of Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, or Mora counties in New Mexico. Organizations must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, public or governmental agencies, or federally recognized tribes in New Mexico. Entities with a fiscal sponsor are also eligible. Applicants must have been operating for at least three years and must provide services without discrimination. Organizations are limited to one Community Grant application per year, though those who received donor-advised grants in the previous year may still apply for competitive funding.
Funding is structured based on organizational budget size, with awards available in increments of $5,000, $10,000, $15,000, and $20,000. Organizations with annual budgets up to $50,000 may apply for $5,000; those between $50,001 and $150,000 may request $10,000; those between $150,001 and $500,000 may seek $15,000; and those with budgets over $500,001 may apply for $20,000. The grant provides general operating support rather than project-specific funding.
The application process includes a requirement that organizations that received a community grant in the previous year must either abstain from applying or submit an abbreviated application to be included in the next Giving Together catalog, which is distributed to fundholders. This allows organizations that may not be applying for a grant to still gain visibility among potential donors.
The grant does not specify an application deadline or award timeline within the provided details. Applicants should confirm specific deadlines and timelines with the grantor. The funding organization encourages applicants to demonstrate how their work aligns with social determinants of health and community well-being in their proposals.
