Community Revitalization, Education, and Equity in Minnesota
This funding opportunity provides financial support to community organizations in Minnesota for projects that enhance education, health, and economic stability, particularly in response to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Description
The Minnesota Multi-Purpose Community Facility Projects Grant, funded by the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund, provides $47.5 million to support projects that promote community revitalization, connectedness, and equity. These projects address challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting education, work, and health initiatives that enhance family economic stability and educational opportunities for children and youth in Minnesota.
Eligible applicants include family resource centers, community schools, libraries, childcare and early learning facilities, and community centers. Projects must integrate services supporting work, education, and health monitoring, though these need not be the sole functions of the facility. Applicants can apply for multiple projects but must submit one application per project site. Grant awards range from $200,000 to $500,000 per project.
Key dates include the application deadline on January 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM Central Time. The informational webinar is rescheduled for Monday, December 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM Central Time, and a recording will be available afterward. Questions about the grant must be submitted by December 12, 2024, with responses posted by December 18, 2024. Grantee announcements are anticipated in April 2025.
Applications require the following components: a signed Application Coversheet with contact information and assurances, a written Application Narrative responding to prompts, and an Excel Budget document. The Coversheet and Narrative must be submitted as a single PDF, while the budget must be attached in Excel format. Submissions must be sent via email to mde.compgrants@state.mn.us with the subject line formatted as follows: “Community Facility Projects RFP, [Organization Name], [Metro or Greater Minnesota/Region].”
Proposals will be evaluated based on their alignment with program objectives, feasibility, and potential impact as detailed in the application rubric. The Minnesota Department of Education will screen submissions for basic eligibility, and incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
