Novel Mechanism Research on Neuropsychiatric Symptoms (NPS) in Alzheimer's Dementia (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)
This funding opportunity supports researchers and organizations working to uncover the biological and behavioral causes of neuropsychiatric symptoms in individuals with Alzheimer's disease, aiming to develop new treatments and interventions.
Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) invites applications for the Novel Mechanism Research on Neuropsychiatric Symptoms (NPS) in Alzheimer's Dementia (R01 Clinical Trial Optional) funding opportunity. This program supports research to advance the understanding of biobehavioral and neurobiological pathways contributing to NPS in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) or Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (ADRD). The goal is to identify novel therapeutic targets and develop interventions for preventing or treating NPS in AD/ADRD.
Eligible applicants include state and local governments, higher education institutions, tribal organizations, nonprofits, small businesses, and for-profit organizations. Cost-sharing or matching funds are not required. Applications are due January 6, 2025, with additional deadlines available through September 7, 2026.
Proposed projects may focus on mechanistic studies of pathways leading to NPS or developing innovative therapeutic strategies. Clinical trials are optional under this opportunity, allowing flexibility in project design.
