Supported by a Duke Energy Foundation Grant, this program aims to help local businesses thrive, foster entrepreneurial efforts, and expand childcare centers to enhance employee retention. Grants, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, are available for projects that focus on modifying physical spaces, enhancing e-commerce capabilities, expanding service delivery capacity, purchasing business equipment, or improving ADA accessibility and public health compliance. The total funding available for this program is $50,000, and applications are due by September 30, 2024. The grant period runs from September 1, 2024, to April 1, 2025. Eligible applicants must operate a legal business in Alexander County, have 50 or fewer employees, and invest in a project that meets or exceeds the grant award. Home-based businesses are not eligible, though certified home-based childcare centers may apply.
