Energy Efficiency Assessment Program
This program provides financial support to public housing authorities, local governments, and nonprofit organizations for conducting energy efficiency assessments in single-family and duplex homes located in environmental justice areas, helping residents reduce energy costs and improve their living conditions.
Description
The Energy Efficiency Assessment Program offers grants to public housing authorities, local governments, and nonprofit organizations to conduct energy efficiency assessments at eligible properties. These properties must be single family or duplex residences in environmental justice areas, assisting residents with housing aid from state or federal programs. The program aims to reduce energy costs, enhance building performance, and bolster climate resilience. Award recipients can later apply for funding to implement the assessment's recommendations, which may include installing programmable thermostats, improving insulation, or upgrading lighting. Applications are accepted until funds are depleted, with awards ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.
