Description

The Charles A. King Trust Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program supports senior postdoctoral researchers and mentored clinician scientists working in Massachusetts who are focused on understanding and improving the treatment of human disease. Established in 1936, the program funds research across biomedical fields, including basic and preclinical sciences, clinical sciences, and implementation research, with the goal of advancing scientific discovery and improving public health outcomes. The program is dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the scientific community.

Two-year grants ranging from $194,100 to $215,000 will be awarded to successful applicants. The funding includes a stipend, fringe benefits, and a $25,000 annual flexible expense allowance to support research needs. Applications are reviewed for their innovation, relevance to human disease, feasibility, and alignment with program objectives. Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including research experience and protected time for research. Proposals with a focus on cancer or vision are strongly encouraged, as they may qualify for additional dedicated funding.

The program is administered by Health Resources in Action in partnership with the Bank of America, N.A., which serves as a co-trustee along with other funders.
