Idaho Community Foundation

This program provides flexible funding for nonprofit organizations and government entities in Idaho to support a variety of operational needs and community initiatives.

Description

The Forever Idaho Grant Program, administered by the Idaho Community Foundation (ICF), is designed to meet the dynamic and evolving needs of communities throughout Idaho. Funded through the contributions of donors who support flexible and community-responsive philanthropy, the program awards general operating grants that may be used for a wide array of organizational expenses. These include both direct and indirect costs such as payroll, rent, utilities, equipment, supplies, capital improvements, and programmatic initiatives.

Grants are distributed through region-specific cycles based on geographic location. The Northern and Eastern Region cycles have a deadline of June 15, while the Southwestern and South Central Region cycles have a deadline of August 15. Organizations may apply in the region where their office is located and/or in any region where they serve residents. Anticipated award notification dates are September for the Northern and Eastern regions and November for the Southwestern and South Central regions.

Applications are reviewed by ICF Regional Councils composed of volunteer community leaders with deep knowledge of their areas. These councils evaluate applications and make funding recommendations, which are then reviewed and approved by ICF’s Board of Directors.

The maximum amount an applicant can request is $25,000, although most grant awards will fall between $3,000 and $8,000. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) public charities and government entities, including public schools. No final report is required for awarded grants; however, recipients are encouraged to share updates, stories, and photos to contribute to ICF's ongoing learning efforts.

Applicants are required to select an Impact Area during the application process. These include Arts & Culture, Community Benefit, Educational & Economic Opportunities, Environment & Animal Welfare, Health and Wellness, and Housing Stability. The grant application is submitted through the ICF online portal, and applicants needing assistance may reach out via email or phone to ICF staff.
