The FORT-ify Neighborhood Accelerator, developed by the City of Fort Wayne’s Department of Neighborhoods, is designed for neighborhood leaders who are ready to elevate their impact. This program offers participants the opportunity to build essential skills, access mentorship and support from City staff, and collaborate with other neighborhood associations to strengthen their communities. Through monthly in-person workshops, participants will gain valuable knowledge while working on a Quick Action Plan (QAP) tailored to their neighborhood’s needs. Additionally, hands-on activities between sessions enable participants to immediately apply what they learn in real-world scenarios.

The program focuses on four key areas crucial for effective neighborhood leadership: Community Listening & Asset-Based Approaches, which emphasizes identifying and leveraging community strengths; Governance and Succession, which ensures sustainable leadership within organizations; Civic Engagement, which fosters active participation and collaboration; and Fundraising & Grant Writing, which equips leaders with the tools to secure financial support for their initiatives.

Applications for the 2025 FORT-ify cohort are now open, with a deadline of 11:59 p.m. on January 31, 2025. This unique opportunity empowers neighborhood leaders to deepen their knowledge, access critical resources, and implement impactful changes within their communities. Through this program, participants can build stronger, more resilient neighborhoods and cultivate meaningful, long-term progress.
