The Claneil Foundation Community Fund 2025
This grant provides multi-year funding to small nonprofit organizations in the Philadelphia area to tackle health, education, environmental, and food system challenges in their communities.
Description
The Claneil Foundation's Community Fund offers multi-year general operating grants to nonprofit organizations in the Philadelphia area to address health, environmental, educational, and food system issues affecting local communities. Eligible organizations can receive $90,000 over three years ($30,000 per year), along with an additional $10,000 for professional development and wellness support for the executive director or organization. To qualify, applicants must be located in or serve communities in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia counties, and have an annual operating budget of $1 million or less.
Grants are awarded on a rotating basis to organizations working within specific issue areas each year: Education (2024), Health and Human Services (2025), Hunger, Nutrition, and Food Systems (2026), and Environment (2027). Each cycle begins with a Letter of Intent (LOI) due by December 1 of the preceding year. Organizations submitting an LOI should do so between November 1 and December 1 through the Foundation’s online portal, which opens November 1 each year.
Key deadlines include LOI notifications on January 31, proposal submission (for invited applicants) by March 1, and final grant decisions by June 30. Prospective applicants may contact Senior Program Officer Andrea Bretting at abretting@claneil.org or call 610-941-1140 with questions. The Foundation encourages applicants to adhere closely to deadlines and processes due to high interest.
