Small Business Growth Initiative Grant
This program provides funding and resources to help small businesses grow and succeed sustainably while positively impacting their local communities.
Description
The SBGI Grant Program, administered by the LCCF (presumed to be a local community foundation based on context), provides targeted funding and developmental resources to support small business growth. The initiative is focused on helping small business owners achieve long-term, sustainable success through a combination of direct grant funding, technical assistance, and peer-based learning. The program is deeply rooted in fostering economic development and social impact within local communities.
Businesses accepted into the program are eligible to receive a one-time grant of up to $30,000 for a duration of one year. The funding is designated to support specific growth-related projects, as identified by the business applicant and approved by the grant committee. In addition to financial assistance, recipients receive access to wrap-around services, including referrals, technical support, business education workshops, and peer-to-peer cohorts. These services are tailored to the business’s expressed needs and strategic goals.
To qualify for the grant, applicants must complete several preparatory steps, including developing a business and financial plan, establishing business and personal financial goals, registering their legal business structure, obtaining licenses and insurance, and setting up separate business financial accounts. Applicants are also required to manage bookkeeping with online software. These requirements ensure that businesses are structurally prepared to scale and sustain operations.
The application process begins with submission through the SBGI website, followed by a review from the committee to assess qualifications and alignment with program goals. If selected, the business will accept the grant and enter the program, beginning their journey with a visioning and goal-setting process.
While the program focuses on business development, its broader mission includes enhancing the surrounding economic and social landscape, indicating that it values community impact as part of its criteria. Applicants are encouraged to consult the SBGI Pilot Program Booklet for detailed guidance and expectations.
