Focus Areas
Field of Interest Funds support a specific area of “interest” as defined by the original donor. At the Community Foundation, the field of interest areas include:

adult education

Eligibility Criteria

Suggest practical solutions to current problems or address a current community interest. Examples include, but are not limited to, issues noted in the “Conversations With the Community” report.
Encourage cooperation and elimination of duplicate services
Assist grant recipients to achieve certain objectives
Are from established non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.

Evaluation Criteria
In evaluating grant applications, the Grants Committee gives consideration to:

Project Quality

Established community need, expected benefits, planning, similarity to other programs, reasonableness of budget and grant request, other expected funding sources, potential to leverage other grants.

Community Impact

Number of people affected, potential benefit, demonstrated community need/desire for the project, impact on requesting organization, collaboration with other organizations, volunteer commitment to the project.

Project Management

Fiscal responsibility, long-range planning, staff and board experience, organizational ability to carry out the project, mission-appropriate, future of the organization.

The Foundation does not make grants for the following:

Annual appeals or membership contributions
Debt reduction, existing obligations, or building campaigns
To or for individuals
Travel expenses
Political purposes
Loans
