Description
The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2024 Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Awards, which support large projects by Arizona-based nonprofits. Eligible organizations may apply for grants between $50,000 and $250,000 to fund significant capacity-building projects that directly impact their clients. Awards are intended for projects that enhance organizational efficiency or service reach, and typically do not cover annual program expenses. The focus areas include homelessness, healthcare for the underserved, and youth programs, although other human services-related requests may be considered.
Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits with operations in Arizona. Applications must include an agency overview, IRS exemption letter, board roster, approved financial statements, a timeline for project implementation, project description, budget, and expected outcomes. Nonprofits without an IRS Tax ID must apply through a fiscal sponsor. Applications are open from October 15 to December 3, 2024, at 5:00 PM Arizona time.
The review process involves Arizona Diamondbacks players, executives, and board members, with finalist presentations scheduled for March 2025. Funds will be awarded by April 2025, and projects must be completed with all funds spent by April 2026. The foundation typically does not fund debt reduction, endowments, fundraising events, or temporary activities such as festivals or seminars.
