Beyond the Meter: Energy Storage Integration Prize
This grant provides funding to companies and coalitions developing innovative energy storage solutions that integrate with renewable energy sources like solar and electric vehicles, promoting better management and stability of the electrical grid.
Description
The Beyond the Meter: Energy Storage Integration Prize, launched by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Electricity, seeks to incentivize companies or coalitions to demonstrate their behind-the-meter (BTM) grid-edge energy storage integration solutions. The prize will highlight innovative approaches to manage distributed energy resources (DERs) such as solar photovoltaic (PV), electric vehicles (EVs), and energy storage systems (ESS). The competition aims to promote interoperability, improved integration, and control of BTM technologies, while fostering collaboration with grid-edge technology vendors. Winning teams will showcase their solutions at DISTRIBUTECH 2025, receiving $100,000 in total ($50,000 upon winning Phase 1 and an additional $50,000 after participating in the event). The competition is part of DOE's GRIT (Grid Resource Integration Technology) Prize Series and focuses on innovative solutions that enhance grid stability and enable higher integration of renewable energy.
