PFAS Grant Program
This program provides financial assistance to public water systems, local governments, tribal entities, and environmental organizations in Colorado to help identify, assess, and mitigate the impacts of harmful PFAS contamination on public health and the environment.
Description
The PFAS Grant Program was established through the PFAS Cash Fund, created by Senate Bill 20-218 in 2020, to prevent further contamination and reduce human exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in Colorado. The program provides financial assistance to entities engaged in identifying, assessing, and mitigating the impacts of PFAS on public health and the environment.
Funding Categories
The grant program is divided into three primary funding categories:
Sampling – Supports efforts to detect and monitor PFAS contamination in water supplies and the environment.
Emergency Assistance – Provides rapid response funding to address urgent PFAS contamination incidents.
Infrastructure – Funds water treatment systems, filtration technology, and other infrastructure projects aimed at reducing PFAS exposure.
