This funding opportunity provides financial support to agricultural producers in Utah for projects that improve water efficiency and optimize irrigation systems, promoting sustainable water practices in the agricultural sector.

Description

The Agricultural Water Optimization Program is now accepting applications for FY2025, offering a total of $30,000,000 in funding to support water efficiency initiatives in Utah’s agricultural sector. The program aims to enhance water resiliency by assisting agricultural producers in optimizing their water use. Half of the funding, $15,000,000, will be allocated to On-Farm Projects that improve water efficiency directly on agricultural lands, while the remaining $15,000,000 is designated for Canal/Irrigation Company Projects focused on optimizing irrigation systems.

All applicants are required to undergo a pre-consultation with the Utah Division of Water Rights to assess the water-saving potential of their proposed projects. This step ensures alignment with the program’s goals and is necessary for eligibility. The application deadline is February 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM MST, and interested applicants are encouraged to apply promptly.

For further details or to submit an application, individuals can visit the program’s website. Questions can be directed to udaf-wateroptimization@utah.gov.
