New Jersey Historic Trust’s Historic Site Management Grant Program
This grant provides financial support for historic preservation projects in New Jersey, targeting organizations and municipalities engaged in restoring and managing historic sites.
Description
The New Jersey Historic Trust, under the Department of Community Affairs, is now accepting applications for the Preserve New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund, with a deadline of April 24, 2025, at 4:00 PM. This grant program is designed to support historic preservation efforts across the state through four distinct funding tracks: Capital Projects, Historic Site Management (HSM), Municipal, County, and Regional Planning (MCRP), and Heritage Tourism.
Applications must be submitted electronically via the appropriate online portal for the selected grant type. In addition to the digital submission, all applicants are required to submit a USB drive containing supporting documents by the same deadline. Applicants can mail the USB via USPS to the Trust’s PO Box or deliver via FedEx/UPS or in person on April 24 at the Trust’s office in Trenton.
Each grant type has a separate application and guidelines, and applicants are encouraged to download and review the respective application forms in Word or PDF formats and the specific Supporting Documents Checklist before submission.
The Preserve New Jersey Fund provides matching grants for a variety of eligible preservation activities, including physical restoration, planning, and heritage tourism initiatives. Applicants must meet the specific criteria outlined in the Grant Guidelines, including matching fund requirements and organizational eligibility.
A virtual Applicant Workshop was held on January 30, 2025, and a recording is available on YouTube. To further assist applicants, the Trust is hosting virtual office hours every other Thursday through April, with registration links available for each session.
For additional guidance, applicants are advised to contact NJHT staff directly. The Trust strongly encourages early engagement to ensure compliance with application requirements and to clarify eligibility.
