Description
The County of Maui Department of Human Concerns is inviting grant proposals aimed at enhancing mental health services and providing support for immigrant and migrant populations within Maui County. This initiative seeks to address the pressing needs of these communities by funding programs that can deliver effective services. The grant opportunity is open to both profit and nonprofit organizations that meet specific eligibility criteria and can demonstrate their capacity to provide the required services.
The primary purpose of this grant is to support programs that focus on mental health and immigrant/migrant services. Organizations can apply for funding up to $250,000 for mental health programs and up to $400,000 for immigrant and migrant services. The grant period will cover the remaining months of fiscal year 2025, from the notice to proceed until June 30, 2025, and will extend into fiscal year 2026, concluding on June 30, 2026.
Eligible applicants must be incorporated under the laws of the State of Hawaii, either as a profit or nonprofit organization. Nonprofit organizations must have a governing board that operates without conflicts of interest and without compensation. Additionally, organizations must have established bylaws or policies that govern their operations, including provisions for managing conflicts of interest. They must also be licensed and accredited according to federal, state, and county regulations.
For those applying specifically for immigrant and migrant services, there are minimum service requirements that must be addressed in the program narrative. Applicants must provide direct legal services to immigrants and migrants through a licensed immigration attorney or obtain the necessary accreditation from the U.S. Department of Justice within one year of receiving the grant. Services must be offered at no charge or at a reduced rate, and organizations must be able to document and report on clients referred by the County of Maui's Immigrant Services Division.
The application process requires organizations to submit a detailed program narrative that outlines their proposed services and how they will meet the eligibility criteria. Evaluation criteria will focus on the organization's ability to deliver effective services, track and report on client outcomes, and demonstrate community impact.
