Sullivan County Grants for Nonprofit Organizations
This program provides financial support to nonprofit organizations that deliver essential services and address critical community needs across Sullivan County, New Hampshire.
The Sullivan County Community Grant Program is administered by the Sullivan County Board of Commissioners in New Hampshire. This program provides financial assistance to nonprofit organizations that deliver services benefiting communities across Sullivan County. Historically, this program has provided funding to support a variety of community-focused initiatives and essential services, including food assistance, family resources, behavioral health, transportation, and more. The program’s goal is to strengthen the social service network across the county by providing direct financial support to nonprofits that serve the county’s residents.
For Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26), the Sullivan County Executive Finance Committee has allocated $120,000 for the Community Grant Program. This represents approximately a 50% reduction compared to previous years, meaning competition for funding is expected to be higher. Organizations intending to apply must review the updated grant policy, approved on February 18, 2025, to ensure they fully understand the eligibility criteria, allowable expenses, and application requirements.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations that provide services that benefit multiple communities across Sullivan County. The program prioritizes funding for programs that address critical needs, such as food security, health and wellness, family support, transportation, and crisis intervention. Organizations must demonstrate that the grant funding will directly benefit Sullivan County residents.
Applications for the FY26 cycle are due by 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 28, 2025. Applicants may submit their completed applications either by dropping off a hard copy at the Commissioners Office, located at 14 Main Street, Suite 1, Newport, NH 03773, or by emailing a complete PDF application to commissioners@sullivancountynh.gov. It is important for applicants to thoroughly complete all required forms, including the Community Grant Application and the County Grant Budget Template, to ensure their application is considered complete.
Following the submission deadline, applications will be reviewed by the Commissioners Office for completeness. The Commissioners will then review eligible applications as part of the FY26 budget development process. The proposed budget, including grant awards, will be presented to the County Delegation during a public hearing in mid-June 2025. Final funding decisions will be made by the Delegation during the County Convention, expected to be held in late June 2025.
Applicants with questions about the grant process can contact the Commissioners Office at 603-863-2560 between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, or they can email Sharon at sharonjc@sullivancountynh.gov. The county strongly encourages applicants to ask questions if they need clarification, particularly given the reduced funding pool and the heightened importance of complete and competitive applications.
