Joseph Robert Foundation

This grant provides financial support to individuals and organizations focused on arts, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability, prioritizing smaller-scale projects with significant community impact.

Description

The Joseph Robert Foundation is a private philanthropic organization supporting initiatives in the arts, animal welfare, and environmental and sustainable resources management. With a longstanding commitment to these areas, the Foundation aims to fund individuals and organizations that demonstrate a clear vision, meaningful impact, and sound financial planning. Funding is provided semi-annually and emphasizes support for smaller-scale efforts with the potential for significant community or environmental benefit.

Applications for funding are accepted twice per year, with submission deadlines on April 30 and October 30. Most grants are for a one-year period beginning from the date the award is granted. Organizations may reapply after submitting a final report at the end of their grant term. First-time organizational applicants are typically awarded no more than $5,000 unless there are emergency or compelling circumstances. In general, organizational grants are capped under $10,000 and should not exceed 10% of the organization’s annual budget. Grants to individuals, such as visual artists, are limited to $2,000 and are expected to show matching or in-kind funding.

Applicants are expected to submit a detailed budget, including income and expense line items, and provide either a current or previous annual operating budget. Organizations applying for program or project grants must submit specific budgets for those efforts. While matching funds are not mandatory, they are viewed favorably during the review process. Large organizations may only apply for program or project-specific funds, while smaller organizations may request general operating support as well. Individual applicants are restricted to project-based funding and must also provide a project budget.

Notification regarding the status of applications will be provided within two months after the submission deadline. Successful applicants will be contacted via mail, while others will receive email notifications. Grant types available include general operating support and program/project funding for organizations, and project-specific funding for individuals.

All recipients are required to submit final reports at the end of the grant period. For organizations and individuals not planning to reapply, the report must be sent one year after the receipt of funds. The report should include a description of the grant period, a summary of how funds were used, the outcomes achieved, and a detailed financial accounting. Visual artists are expected to submit a separate report by email to info@josephrobert.org, while organizations use the same email address if not reapplying.
