The Tree Care Grant is an initiative by Landscape Management and Housing & Neighborhood Services in Charlotte, designed to support efforts that maintain and protect the city's renowned urban tree canopy. This program celebrates biodiversity, promotes public education on tree care, and aims to preserve the canopy for future generations. Eligible organizations citywide can apply for matching grants of up to $3,000 to fund tree care initiatives such as canopy assessment, ivy removal, pruning of small trees and saplings, mulching, and tree-focused education and community events.

Grants are awarded annually, with the current application deadline set for January 6, 2025. Tree Care projects can run concurrently with other open Neighborhood Matching Grant projects, allowing communities to enhance their neighborhood environment without conflict with other funding opportunities.

Participation in the program requires attendance at a pre-application workshop, which can be attended live or viewed online. The upcoming workshop is scheduled for Monday, November 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM via Zoom. Registrants will receive access instructions before the session. To apply, participants must review the Tree Care Initiative Guidelines and submit an online application along with required documents, including a Contribution Template, Tree Care Budget Template, Volunteer Pledge Sheet, and Sign-In Sheet.
