DoD VRP, Translational Research Award
This funding opportunity supports researchers developing innovative treatments and clinical applications for eye injuries and visual dysfunctions related to military service.
Description
The DoD FY24 Vision Research Program (VRP) Translational Research Award (TRA) seeks to support research that advances promising discoveries into clinical applications for eye injuries and visual dysfunction related to military service. This funding, managed by USAMRAA, encourages projects aimed at developing new treatments, drugs, devices, or clinical practice guidelines with a pathway toward regulatory approval, such as FDA submissions. The TRA allows for animal and human studies, including a pilot clinical trial (PCT) to assess the feasibility of future full-scale trials, but excludes larger clinical trials.
Applicants can be of any organization type. The program offers a partnering PI option, allowing two Principal Investigators (PIs) to jointly lead a project while handling separate administrative and reporting requirements. Eligible research includes observational studies using human data or samples, but excludes studies focused on determining intervention efficacy.
One award of up to $1.6 million is expected. Applications are due by November 12, 2024, and applicants must follow specific submission guidelines. For assistance, contact the CDMRP Help Desk.
