Washington State Arts Commission announces Art Project Grant 2026
This grant provides funding for arts, heritage, and cultural projects in Washington State that are open to the public, prioritizing smaller organizations and those serving underserved communities.
Description
The Washington State Arts Commission (ArtsWA) is now accepting applications for its Art Project Grant under the Grants to Organizations program for the 2026 fiscal year, covering activities taking place between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026. The grant offers project-specific funding to support arts, heritage, and cultural projects that are open to the public and take place within the state of Washington. The application is open from April 14, 2025 and will close on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 5:00 PM.
Organizations can request between $1,000 and $3,000 in funding. This cycle reflects reduced award sizes due to high demand and limited funding resources post-pandemic. All grants are reimbursement-based, meaning expenses must be incurred before funds are paid. Reimbursement forms are due by June 30, 2026, with final reports due by July 31, 2026.
Priority consideration will be given to applicants that meet one or more of the following criteria: organizations with annual operating budgets under $100,000, particularly those under $50,000; organizations operating for fewer than 5 years; organizations based in Washington state’s economically distressed counties; or organizations serving underserved communities (defined by barriers related to geography, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, economics, or disability).
Eligible applicants include Washington-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits, local arts agencies, tribal governments, and groups with fiscal sponsorship. Applicants must have a history of producing at least one arts, heritage, or culture-related program or project. Projects must be open to the public and take place within Washington during the specified grant period.
Ineligible applicants include individuals, for-profit businesses, government agencies, universities, colleges, academic departments, and K-12 schools. All proposals must comply with state agency funding restrictions.
