MDT Aeronautics Division Airport Loan and Grant Program

State
Montana Department of Transportation

This program provides financial assistance to publicly owned airports in Montana for essential improvements and upgrades to their facilities.

Description

The MDT Aeronautics Division offers grants and low-interest loans to support airport and aviation facility projects throughout Montana. Eligibility is open to publicly owned and public-use airports and facilities. Funding can cover up to 100% of project costs, either already underway or planned, focusing on improvements like pavement maintenance, construction, lighting, and fuel systems. The program draws funds from a 4.5¢/gal tax on general aviation fuel, although the total funds available may vary yearly due to tax revenue fluctuations. Applications are accepted until November 15 annually, with a review process conducted by the Aeronautics Board in December and decisions made in a public meeting in January.
