NOAA Community Project Funding Program (Hard Earmark)
This funding opportunity is designed to support projects that enhance ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes observations and data dissemination to improve safety, economic development, and environmental protection across the United States.
Description
The U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS®) is a national and regional partnership working to provide
ocean, coastal and Great Lakes observations, data, tools, and forecasts to improve safety, enhance the economy, and
protect our environment. U.S. IOOS is designed to address regional and national needs for ocean, coastal, and Great
Lakes information, to gather specific data on key coastal, ocean, and Great Lakes variables, and to ensure timely and
sustained dissemination and availability of these data to support national defense, marine commerce, navigation
safety, weather, climate, and marine forecasting, energy siting and production, economic development, ecosystembased marine, coastal, and Great Lakes resource management, public safety, and public outreach training and
education. Proposals should identify project priorities that are consistent with the project description outlined as part of the
Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024. Proposals should demonstrate the ability to successfully initiate and
complete the work proposed and describe the outcomes resulting from the project.
Pursuant to the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, P.L. 118-42 (March 9,2024), IOOS is authorized to fund
