Gallery 4Culture Grant for Artists in King County
This grant provides financial support and exhibition opportunities for emerging and underrepresented artists in King County, WA, to showcase their installation and site-responsive artwork in a Seattle gallery.
Description
Gallery 4Culture invites King County, WA artists, collaborative teams, and groups to apply for its 2025-2026 exhibition season. Located in Seattle's Pioneer Square, the gallery offers six exhibitions, each lasting about six weeks, between September 2025 and August 2026. Proposals from emerging and underrepresented artists are particularly encouraged, with a focus on installation and site-responsive artwork. Selected participants receive curatorial support, PR assistance, and a $2,000 honorarium but are responsible for delivering, installing, and insuring their work. While the gallery is non-commercial, artists can sell their works independently.
Eligibility is limited to King County artists not currently represented by commercial galleries. Previous solo exhibitors at Gallery 4Culture must wait three seasons to reapply. Applications must include demographic and contact information, a two-page artist résumé, a proposal statement (up to 300 words), and 10 work samples (digital images or time-based media). Work samples should illustrate the artist’s qualifications and align closely with the proposed exhibition’s concept.
The deadline for submissions is December 11, 2024, at 4:00 pm PST. Applications are submitted online, and early submissions are encouraged. A panel of independent arts professionals evaluates applications based on the quality of the proposal, artistic strength, and the artist’s ability to execute the project. Panelists aim to reflect diverse media, approaches, and cultural backgrounds within King County. Finalists will be notified in early February 2025.
Applicants are supported with technical and conceptual guidance throughout the process. Questions can be directed to Gallery 4Culture staff, and resources like the gallery floor plan are available to help with planning.
