This grant provides financial support for specific arts projects and programs that engage the Salt Lake City community, benefiting individuals, groups, and nonprofit organizations.

Description

The 2025 Project Support Grants are offered by the Salt Lake City Arts Council to individuals, groups, and nonprofit organizations for specific arts projects and programs that are deemed valuable to the community. The grants aim to support a variety of arts-based initiatives, including concerts, murals, performances, festivals, workshops, and readings. The total funding available for this grant category is approximately $70,000, with individual grant awards ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. Projects funded through this grant must take place between February 1, 2025, and August 31, 2025.

The primary purpose of the Project Support Grants is to foster community engagement through arts projects. All projects, with the exception of murals, must incorporate a community engagement activity that builds relationships between the organization or group and the community. This engagement is essential for achieving mutual benefits. Murals that are highly visible to the public are exempt from this requirement. Additionally, all projects must be accessible to the greater Salt Lake City community, ensuring that neighborhood events are open to the general public.

To be eligible for a Project Support grant, applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, an individual artist, or a group of artists. All projects must demonstrate community engagement and relevance, showcasing social, educational, cultural, or economic benefits. Applicants must also show community support through various means, such as matching funds, in-kind support, letters of support, or evidence of previous successful events. Projects must occur within Salt Lake City, and applicants who have received awards in previous years must be in good standing with the Salt Lake City Arts Council.

Certain limitations apply to the funding. Grants cannot be awarded for projects that have already been completed, for programs or travel outside of Salt Lake City, or for for-profit businesses. Additionally, funding cannot be used for debt reduction, fundraising events, capital expenditures, or projects that have already received funding from the Salt Lake City Arts Council. Education or tuition fees are also not eligible for funding.

The application process requires submission of specific documentation that demonstrates community support and engagement. Applicants must provide details of their proposed projects, including any confirmed partners and evidence of community involvement. The evaluation of applications will be based on the clarity of the project proposal, the level of community engagement, and the overall impact on the community.

The deadline for submitting applications for the 2025 Project Support Grants is October 27, 2024. It is important for applicants to adhere to this timeline to ensure their proposals are considered. The grants will be awarded in January 2025, allowing successful applicants to begin their projects shortly thereafter.
