2025-2026 White House Fellows Program
This program selects outstanding early-career professionals committed to public service for a prestigious fellowship that provides firsthand experience in government leadership.
Description
The White House Fellows Program Class of 2025-2026 application is open until 3:00 p.m. ET on January 3, 2025. This highly competitive program seeks early-career professionals with exceptional achievements, leadership potential, and a commitment to public service. Approximately 100 Regional Finalists are selected from the applicant pool and interviewed by regional panels of prominent citizens. The most qualified candidates are then invited to a Selection Weekend for final interviews, with Fellowships awarded by the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships on a non-partisan basis, aiming for diversity and balance.
To qualify, applicants must be U.S. citizens, have completed their undergraduate education, and must not be federal employees unless they are career military personnel. Selection criteria emphasize professional achievements, leadership skills, commitment to public service, teamwork, and character.
Applicants are required to submit the names and emails of three recommenders and one alternate in the application portal. Recommendations should come from individuals who know the applicant well and represent diverse perspectives—such as academic, professional, and community settings. One letter should address professional competence, another should reflect community involvement, and a third, if applicable, should come from the current supervisor. It is crucial to enter accurate recommender information, as changes can only be made through Technical Services.
For questions about the program, applicants can contact the White House Fellows Program Office, and for technical assistance, reach out to WHFApplication@opm.gov.
