This funding opportunity is designed to support initiatives that promote tourism and enhance infrastructure in Delaware County, aimed at increasing visitor numbers and spending.
Description
The Delaware County Tourism Promotion and Development Grant Program provides financial assistance to projects that enhance tourism within Delaware County. This program is funded through the county’s Occupancy Tax and is designed to attract visitors, stimulate economic growth, and promote the county's cultural, historical, and recreational assets. Applications are reviewed by the Tourism Advisory Board and approved by the Delaware County Board of Supervisors.
Nonprofit organizations may apply for funding in various categories. Grants supporting arts and culture, as well as community celebrations, offer up to $1,200 for events or series of events that attract non-county visitors and engage the public. Marketing and promotion projects, which focus on specific areas or activities within the county, can receive up to $5,000 for costs such as printed materials, website development, or collaborative initiatives. Grants of up to $5,000 are available for capital improvements, including the renovation of tourism properties or infrastructure directly supporting tourism. Major capital improvements, offering up to $25,000, are reserved for large-scale projects such as extensive renovations or new construction of tourism properties and require additional documentation.
For-profit businesses are also eligible for funding. Code compliance assistance grants provide up to $1,000 to support lodging facilities in meeting safety, fire, and health code requirements. Collaborative marketing initiatives between tourism-related businesses can receive up to $2,500 for joint promotional efforts aimed at attracting non-county visitors. Grants of up to $10,000 are available for lodging business capital improvements, focusing on projects that enhance visitor experiences, such as adding new rooms or upgrading facilities.
