This funding opportunity supports local organizations in Kennebec County that provide programs aimed at improving health, education, and financial stability, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Description

The United Way of Kennebec Valley (UWKV) has announced its 2025 Community Investment Process, which provides funding to programs in Kennebec County for a two-year period from May 2025 to March 2027. The application period opens on October 1, 2024. The initiative supports programs that align with UWKV's mission and contribute to the goals of Impact2032, a long-term vision aiming to improve health, education, and financial stability across the county. Funding for these grants is made possible by contributions from individuals, businesses, and foundations through the United Way Campaign.

Applicants can seek funding under one of three streams: Strategic Investment Grants, Basic Needs Grants, and Innovation Grants. Each funding category targets specific areas of need, with Strategic Investment Grants supporting established programs, Basic Needs Grants addressing immediate essential services, and Innovation Grants fostering new or creative solutions to persistent community challenges. Programs must demonstrate alignment with one of the Impact2032 Vision Statements and show a commitment to the vision’s goals.

UWKV emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as integral to its mission and funding priorities. Impact2032 was developed with attention to inclusive strategies that ensure all community members are considered, and the organization actively disaggregates data to identify and address existing inequities. Programs that tackle disparities and work to promote equity in health, education, or economic stability are particularly encouraged to apply. UWKV is committed to using its funding to advance DEI and support initiatives that reflect its values and the diverse needs of the community.

Applicants are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements and prepare to demonstrate how their program will contribute to the targeted areas of impact. The process represents an opportunity for local organizations to secure funding that drives meaningful change and addresses complex social issues in Kennebec County.
