Fichtenbaum Charitable Trust Fund
This grant provides financial support to charitable organizations in Texas, particularly in Dallas County and surrounding areas, focusing on unique projects in arts, education, health, and youth development that address specific community needs.
Description
The Fichtenbaum Charitable Trust, established in 2017 by Dorace and Morton Fichtenbaum, provides financial support to charitable organizations across Texas, with a preference for those located in Dallas County and the surrounding North Texas counties. Administered by Bank of America's Texas office under its Philanthropic Solutions division, the Trust continues the Fichtenbaums’ legacy of supporting their local community.
This foundation funds a wide range of initiatives within the fields of arts and culture, education, health, human services, youth development, and medical research, with a specific interest in cancer, heart disease, vision impairments, and Myasthenia Gravis. The Trust also places an emphasis on education and research for children with mental or physical disabilities, as well as programs introducing children to the fine arts.
Successful proposals are those that present unique and necessary projects which do not duplicate existing services and may not easily attract traditional funding. The Trust supports both programmatic and capital expenses, including research, scholarships, and matching challenge grants. Projects should be clearly articulated as worthwhile and of significant impact to the requesting organization or population served.
Applications are due annually on May 1, and all applicants are notified of funding decisions by June 30. While the majority of grants are one-year in duration, the Trust is open to larger multi-year commitments where warranted. Grant awards typically range from $10,000 to $100,000, with an average award size of approximately $35,000.
Applications must be submitted online, and applicants are encouraged to review the procedural documents and online help resources provided by Bank of America. For any questions related to the application process, interested parties should contact tx.philanthropic@bofa.com, ensuring the foundation name is included in the subject line for proper routing.
