This grant provides funding to operate a national hotline that offers crisis support and resources for American Indian and Alaska Native individuals affected by family violence, domestic violence, or dating violence.

Description

The Family Violence Prevention and Services Discretionary Grant Program through the Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Violence Prevention and Services (OFVPS), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will provide funding for a National Indigenous Domestic Violence Hotline. This hotline is intended to support American Indian and Alaska Native adult and youth victims of family violence, domestic violence, or dating violence. It also serves family and household members of these victims, as well as individuals affected by such victimization.

This opportunity will award a single cooperative agreement to an eligible organization capable of operating a national hotline specifically tailored for Indigenous communities. The hotline will offer a range of services including crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals. It will also assist users in identifying problems and developing action plans. Resources provided may include information about domestic and dating violence, support for children exposed to such violence, and guidance through the civil and criminal justice systems.

The scope of the hotline includes making nationwide referrals to domestic violence shelters, outreach programs, social service agencies, legal aid organizations, economic self-sufficiency programs, and other providers that address the comprehensive needs of victims and their families. In urgent situations, the hotline will connect callers directly with local domestic violence service providers.

Applicants eligible for this opportunity are nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status (excluding institutions of higher education) and Native American tribal organizations that are not federally recognized tribal governments. Applications from individuals and foreign entities will be disqualified and are not eligible for merit review or funding.

The forecasted opportunity indicates an estimated post date of February 28, 2025, with applications due by May 1, 2025.
