Whitefish Community Foundation’s Micro Grant Program 2024
This program provides financial support to small nonprofit initiatives in Flathead County and nearby areas, focusing on projects that address community needs, particularly in health and human services.
Description
The 2024 Micro Grant Program, administered by the Whitefish Community Foundation, provides financial assistance to small-scale nonprofit initiatives that have not yet developed the infrastructure required to apply for larger Community Grants. This opportunity is intended to support programs and projects that align with an organization's mission and serve community needs, particularly in health and human services. The application window remains open throughout the calendar year, from January through December, with a firm submission deadline of December 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. MST.
The primary objective of the Micro Grant Program is to facilitate projects that demonstrate a tangible social impact and that benefit communities within Flathead County, Montana, or adjacent counties with a relevant connection to Flathead County. Eligible applicants may only apply once per calendar year and must choose between submitting for either a Micro Grant or a Community Grant, not both.
Micro Grants are capped at $1,000 per request. This financial support is specifically intended for 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporations or publicly-owned tax-exempt corporations that are either based in Flathead County or in Lincoln and Glacier Counties with strong ties to Flathead County organizations. All applicants must have current tax-exempt status at the time of application, and must upload a valid IRS Determination Letter as proof of their eligibility.
The grant does not support organizations located outside the three aforementioned counties, nor does it fund individuals, debt retirement, religious or political programs, conduit organizations, fundraising event sponsorships, or projects completed before the award date. These limitations are clearly defined to ensure the foundation's resources are directed toward immediate and impactful community benefit.
The Whitefish Community Foundation emphasizes supporting needs where social benefit can be clearly observed and where funded projects directly enhance the welfare of the communities they serve. For any questions regarding eligibility or the application process, applicants are encouraged to contact Lynnette Donaldson or Jill Seigmund at 406.863.1745, or via email at grants@whitefishcommunityfoundation.org.
