SCF Henry and Louise Timken Foundation Grant
This grant provides funding to established public charities and government entities in Stark County, Ohio, focusing on community needs in areas like medical vision services, aviation, and the arts.
Description
The Henry and Louise Timken Foundation, a supporting foundation of the Stark Community Foundation, provides charitable grants primarily for the benefit of the Stark County, Ohio community. Established in 1980, when it transitioned from a private foundation to a supporting organization, the Foundation has notably contributed to redevelopment efforts in downtown Canton and continues to prioritize funding in areas of specific interest, including medical vision services, aviation, and the arts.
This grant opportunity is intended for well-established public charities or government entities that have been operational for at least three years. To be eligible, applicants must be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations recognized as public charities or qualifying government entities. A strong preference is given to organizations with a presence in Stark County and to programs that directly serve the community’s needs.
The application deadline is May 2, 2025, and funding decisions will be made in June 2025. All applications must be submitted through the Stark Community Foundation’s online Grant Portal. Paper, email, or faxed applications will not be considered.
Grant recipients are required to submit an evaluative report at the end of the grant period. This report must include a written narrative describing the impact of the grant and detailed financial documentation of how the grant funds were spent. Failure to submit a final report will affect an organization’s ability to receive future funding from the Foundation.
Notably, the Foundation does not award grants to support the same organization for more than three consecutive years, nor does it fund deficit financing or capital expenditures. The purpose of this policy is to encourage sustainability and prevent dependence on ongoing Foundation support.
