The 2025 grant cycle will accept applications from March 7, 2025, until noon Eastern Time on April 8, 2025. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted, regardless of the reason, including technical issues. Grants are available for qualified charitable organizations operating in and serving Mount Airy and Surry County. Funding is sourced from the Foundation’s community grantmaking fund.
Grant awards typically range from $500 to $1,500. In 2024, a total of $1,670 in grants was awarded through this competitive process. Although limited in total amount, the grants support impactful local initiatives and are intended to address the needs of the community as assessed by the Foundation and its advisory board.
Applications must be submitted through the North Carolina Community Foundation’s online grant system. First-time applicants must follow instructions in Training Module I to create a profile. Returning applicants may use their existing login credentials. Training Module II provides detailed instructions on submitting a grant application. Applicants are required to review and follow all guidelines, as non-compliant applications will be deemed ineligible.
Grant decisions are typically made approximately two months after the close of the application period. The advisory board uses an annual Community Needs Assessment to guide its funding decisions, and prospective applicants are encouraged to review this assessment, which is available at the bottom of the grant webpage. For any specific inquiries regarding the application process or eligibility, applicants are encouraged to contact the designated Program Officer.
