Description

This grant, issued by the State of New Mexico's Energy Minerals and Natural Resources Department in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, supports urban and community forestry projects year-round. Eligible entities include non-federal governmental bodies such as public colleges, universities, and tribes. Projects should emphasize community forest development and management, with priority given to projects expanding tree canopy in disadvantaged communities. Matching funds are required but may be waived for projects benefiting disadvantaged communities.
Grant amounts may be requested up to $60,000, with partial funding possible. Applications are accepted year-round, with periodic reviews based on available funds (July, September, November, January and March). To be considered for the current round of reviews your application must be in before the 1st of the month.
