CTIA Catalyst 2025 Grant Program
This program provides financial support to social entrepreneurs using innovative mobile technology to address societal challenges, particularly for underserved communities.
Description
Catalyst 2025, a program of the CTIA Wireless Foundation, supports social entrepreneurs who use innovative, mobile-first solutions to tackle pressing societal challenges. With the transformative power of 5G and advanced wireless technologies, the program seeks to improve communities, inspire equity, and address disparities, especially for historically underserved populations. Catalyst aims to empower changemakers by combining financial support with resources to help scale their impactful projects.
The program provides over $200,000 in unrestricted grants annually. The top three awards include $100,000 for first place, $50,000 for second place, and $25,000 for third place. Additionally, up to three honorable mentions receive $10,000 each. Funding is designed to be flexible, enabling grantees to allocate resources where they are most needed to expand their reach and maximize impact.
Eligible applicants include both nonprofit and for-profit organizations that demonstrate potential for measurable social change through mobile-first solutions. Projects must integrate wireless technology, such as AI, virtual reality, mobile applications, or blockchain, as a core feature to address societal issues. Catalyst strongly encourages applications from people of color, women, and veterans, furthering its commitment to equity and inclusivity.
The application process occurs in two phases. Phase 1 requires a concise proposal outlining the project’s purpose, target audience, and innovative use of wireless technology. Finalists in Phase 2 submit a detailed business plan and impact metrics. Informational webinars, scheduled on January 28 and February 20, will guide applicants through the process. Specific deadlines and application details are outlined in the Call for Submissions, accessible on the program website.
Evaluation criteria focus on the innovation, scalability, and societal impact of the proposed solutions. Projects must demonstrate a clear ability to leverage the speed, efficiency, and connectivity of 5G to address significant challenges. Proposals are also assessed for alignment with Catalyst’s mission to foster equitable and sustainable progress in American communities.
Beyond monetary awards, Catalyst offers significant non-financial benefits to its winners. These include professionally produced promotional videos, pitch coaching, media exposure, and introductions to industry leaders and policymakers. Awardees also gain membership in the Catalyst alumni network, which provides long-term opportunities for collaboration and support.
Catalyst 2025 is an opportunity for social entrepreneurs to harness the transformative potential of 5G and wireless technology to create meaningful change. Interested applicants are encouraged to develop competitive proposals that align with the program’s objectives and leverage the unique capabilities of wireless innovation to drive societal progress.
