Jeanie Coleman Impact Grant

Private
Children’s Brittle Bone Foundation (CBBF)

This grant provides financial assistance to individuals and families affected by Osteogenesis Imperfecta to help cover essential equipment or services that improve their quality of life.

Description

The Children’s Brittle Bone Foundation (CBBF) and the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (OIF) jointly offer the Jeanie Coleman Impact Grant to provide direct support to individuals and families living with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI). This grant aims to fund equipment or services that improve the quality of life for individuals affected by this rare genetic disorder. Due to the high number of applications received annually, only a fraction of requests can be fulfilled. However, each application is carefully reviewed by an evaluation committee to ensure fair consideration.

The primary objective of the Jeanie Coleman Impact Grant is to assist individuals with OI by funding necessary equipment or services that enhance mobility, accessibility, and overall well-being. The grant is designed to cover a range of essential needs that are not typically covered by other funding sources. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, and if selected as a finalist, they must provide income verification. The funding must be utilized within 12 months of receiving the award.

The grant covers expenses related to quality-of-life improvements but explicitly excludes certain services and items. Invasive dental care, therapy or service animals, existing debts, reimbursements, and plumbing services are not eligible for funding. However, non-invasive dental interventions such as orthodontic treatments required due to OI are permitted. For applicants seeking financial assistance for an accessible vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required at the time of application.

Applicants must meet several eligibility criteria to be considered. They must have a confirmed diagnosis of Osteogenesis Imperfecta, demonstrate financial need, and be U.S. residents. Additionally, all funds awarded must be used within the United States. Verification of OI diagnosis and income will be required for finalists before funds are disbursed.

The application process follows a structured timeline. Applications open on January 6, 2025, and the deadline for submission is February 14, 2025. Applicants will be notified of their decision by the end of March 2025. If selected, they must submit the required documentation by May 2025. The awarded funds must be used to obtain the requested item or service by June 2025.
