Metrowest Women’s Fund

This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations in Metrowest Massachusetts that provide programs aimed at improving the lives of low-income women and girls, focusing on education, safety from violence, and support for the next generation.

Description

The Metrowest Women's Fund (MWF) provides grant funding to support programs that address the needs of women and girls living with low incomes in Metrowest Massachusetts. MWF focuses its grantmaking in three impact areas: educational opportunity, programming to support the next generation of girls, and programs ensuring safety from violence. Specific areas of interest within these categories include educational access, the needs of low-income girls, and addressing issues such as domestic violence, senior abuse, sexual assault, and support for survivors of the commercial sex trade.

New in 2025, the Metrowest Women’s Fund is also offering the Spruce Fund Grant, which is an impact grant focused specifically on supporting programs that promote the safety of girls from violence. This opportunity is embedded within the general grant application, and applicants can choose to self-select for consideration for this particular fund. This provides an additional funding pathway for programs aligned with this targeted focus area.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations that serve women and girls from low-income backgrounds within specific towns in the Metrowest region of Massachusetts. Religious organizations are eligible to apply as long as programs are open to all and free from mandatory religious instruction. MWF encourages applications from both first-time applicants and returning grantees. Programs must be nonsectarian, and the focus must be on the target population of low-income women and girls.

Applications for the 2025 grant cycle open on January 21, 2025, and must be received by March 14, 2025, no later than 5:00 PM EST. All applicants will be notified of funding decisions by the first week of June 2025, and grants will be publicly announced in June. Grantee partners will be required to submit a Midyear Report on the use of funds by October 31, 2025, and must attend at least one MWF-sponsored event during the grant cycle. Additionally, grantee partners must acknowledge MWF as a funding partner on their website, in press releases, and in any social media announcements related to the funded program.

The application process is conducted online, allowing organizations to save drafts and revise their submissions before finalizing them. The review process is led by the MWF Grants Allocation Committee, with priority given to organizations that actively involve women and girls in program development and organizational leadership. The grant range for 2025 awards is between $5,000 and $20,000.

For further questions, applicants can contact the Metrowest Women’s Fund at their mailing address, PO Box 192, Weston, MA 02493. Additional inquiries can be made via the contact form on their website. MWF is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and its Tax ID/EIN is 84-3375254.
