Details/Overview:
The LIFE Center Fund, established in 2005 by the Oregon Community Foundation, continues the legacy of the Low Income Family Emergency (LIFE) Center, which supported individuals by providing critical resources and opportunities for self-improvement. The fund awards two-year grants aimed at meeting critical needs such as food, clothing, household items, prescription and hygiene assistance, and school supplies for residents of North, Northeast, and Southeast Portland.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations, with priority given to those clearly aligned with the LIFE Center's mission, particularly smaller organizations where a $7,500 to $10,000 grant will have a significant impact. Organizations outside Portland city limits may apply, provided the funds are used for Portland residents. The grant encourages collaboration with the community and requires applicants to specify the sites, locations, and target populations for their services. General operating budget requests are not competitive.
Applications must be submitted by October 15, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. via email, and must include all attachments as a single PDF. Organizations using fiscal sponsors are eligible to apply, with fiscal sponsors required to actively oversee the use of grant funds. Successful applicants must submit a report for Year 1 activities and a final report after the second year of the grant.
