Description

The Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC) Project Support Grant for Artists provides funding to support the artistic development of individual artists in Greenville County. These grants aim to underwrite specific project costs that enhance an artist's career, including exhibition or performance expenses, marketing efforts, and professional development activities. Funding is not available for regular living or studio costs.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:

Be a practicing artist in fields such as dance, music, literature, media, theater, or visual arts.
Be at least 21 years old and not enrolled as a student during the grant period.
Have lived in Greenville County for at least six months before applying and maintain residency throughout the grant period.
Demonstrate the ability to match the grant funds on a 1:1 basis.
Project submissions must be well-planned and budgeted, with confirmed dates, times, and venues.

Funding and Matching Requirements
Maximum Grant Amount: Up to $1,500, with a 1:1 applicant match required.
Restrictions: No more than two grants per fiscal year, and a single project cannot receive funding from multiple quarterly grants.
Application Deadlines
Applications must be submitted by 5 PM on the deadline dates:

1st Quarter: February 15, 2024 (for projects between May–July 2024)
2nd Quarter: May 15, 2024 (for projects between August–October 2024)
3rd Quarter: August 15, 2024 (for projects between November 2024–January 2025)
4th Quarter: November 15, 2024 (for projects between February–April 2025)
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:

Certification Form: 10 copies, signed and dated.
Project Narrative: 2-page summary explaining the project’s goals, significance, and timeline.
Budget: Detailed project budget, consistent with the project description.
Supporting Materials: Includes a résumé or bio, work samples, and relevant materials like programs, media, or testimonials.
Review Process
Applications are evaluated based on:

Artistry and Feasibility (60%): Project clarity, artist’s qualifications, and feasibility.
Public Impact (15%): Project’s contribution to the community and potential to broaden support.
Project Management (20%): Evidence of planning, financial viability, and promotional strategy.
Compliance (5%): Complete and accurate application submissions.
Award Process and Reporting
Grant recipients receive 50% of the funds upon signing a contract, with the remainder disbursed after project completion and submission of a final report. The report, due within six months of the contract date, must detail accomplishments, include a final budget, and provide promotional materials acknowledging MAC’s support.
