Ensuring Research Integrity - Conferences and Workshops Program (CWP)
This grant provides funding for conferences and workshops that promote ethical research practices and integrity in scientific studies, targeting universities, hospitals, and various nonprofit organizations.
Description
The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, under the Department of Health and Human Services, has forecasted the Ensuring Research Integrity - Conferences and Workshops Program (CWP) grant opportunity. This grant, administered by the Office of Research Integrity (ORI), seeks to support the planning and execution of conferences and workshops that promote responsible research conduct and the dissemination of research integrity findings. The emphasis is on transparency, public accountability, and ethical foundations in scientific research.
The program funds conferences and workshops that focus on at least one of three key areas: thematic conferences, skill-building workshops, and outreach and education events. Thematic conferences may include interdisciplinary expert gatherings that address specific challenges in research integrity, such as data sharing, conflicts of interest, and ethical considerations in public health and biomedical research. Skill-building workshops may include hands-on training for research integrity officers, workshops for institutional officials on handling research misconduct, and training sessions focused on implementing policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory guidelines. Outreach and education events may include public symposia, forums, and webinar series that engage the wider research community in discussions about ethical science, research misconduct drivers, and systemic regulatory gaps.
Applications must propose conferences or workshops designed to produce measurable outcomes, such as knowledge retention, changes in research integrity practices, or sharing of knowledge gained. Recipients are expected to disseminate key knowledge and materials resulting from their events to maximize the impact on public health and research ethics. Eligible applicants include a variety of public and nonprofit entities, including universities, hospitals, laboratories, faith-based organizations, community-based organizations, and American Indian/Alaska Native/Native American organizations. Public or nonprofit foreign organizations and foreign components of domestic organizations may also apply if their proposed activities provide domestic benefits, such as promoting research integrity within the U.S. and abroad.
The grant opportunity has an estimated total program funding of $100,000, with an award ceiling of $50,000 and an award floor of $25,000. No cost-sharing or matching funds are required. The estimated application due date is June 18, 2025, with applications due electronically by 6:00 PM Eastern Time. The estimated award date is September 15, 2025, and funded projects are expected to start on September 30, 2025.
Applications will be evaluated based on their ability to meet program objectives, their feasibility, and their potential impact on research integrity. The forecasted grant notice was last updated on March 13, 2025, and an official post date is expected by April 9, 2025.
