Building Upgrades Inspiring Local Transformation (BUILT Nonprofits) grant
This funding opportunity provides up to $100,000 to community-based nonprofit organizations for energy efficiency upgrades to their buildings, helping them reduce energy costs and carbon emissions while supporting essential local services.
Description
The BUILT Nonprofits grant is a $2 million funding opportunity aimed at supporting community-based nonprofit organizations in enhancing building energy infrastructure. This initiative, made possible through the Biden-Harris Administration’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will provide awards of up to $100,000 to eligible nonprofits for energy efficiency equipment designed to decrease energy consumption and curtail carbon emissions. The goal is to yield both immediate and sustained energy cost savings, which can be redirected to support vital community services. Nonprofits operating in sectors such as low-income housing, healthcare, and emergency response can significantly benefit from these energy efficiency upgrades.
Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations that own and operate their own buildings and are capable of providing a 20% cost share. Applications are due by November 12, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Compelling applications should present a clear plan for proposed energy upgrades and outline how their community will benefit from anticipated energy savings. This funding opportunity is part of a broader effort to support energy improvements in nonprofit facilities across the country.
