This funding is part of a larger $1 million allocation for the calendar year 2024 aimed at providing a safe disposal option for medical sharps, including needles, syringes, and lancets. The program is designed to protect residents and waste haulers from potential health risks associated with mishandled sharps. Eligible applicants can receive grant funding of up to $35,000 to cover expenses related to the collection, storage, and disposal of used sharps. The program also supports costs for advertising and educational materials on proper disposal methods. Applications will be accepted until funding is expended or June 30, 2025.
