This funding opportunity provides financial support to community-based organizations in New York City and Westchester County that create enriching summer programs focused on youth development, health, and well-being for historically marginalized populations.

Description

NewYork-Presbyterian has announced the launch of the Summer Youth Enrichment Grants (SYEG), a funding opportunity designed to support community-based organizations (CBOs) providing impactful summer programs for youth. These one-time grants, valued at up to $50,000, aim to enhance the health, well-being, and development of children and adolescents through enriching summer activities. The grants are part of NewYork-Presbyterian’s broader commitment to investing in local community-based organizations to promote positive youth development across New York City and Westchester County.

The purpose of the Summer Youth Enrichment Grants is to support programs that offer structured opportunities for youth during the summer months, focusing on personal growth, skill development, and safe recreational environments. Programs supported through this grant may address areas such as career readiness and workforce development, educational opportunities, creative and artistic experiences, physical fitness and healthy living, and leadership and civic engagement. Priority will be given to programs serving historically disenfranchised or marginalized populations and communities.

Eligible applicants include governmental agencies and nonprofit organizations with operating budgets exceeding $500,000. Organizations must have proof of 501(c)(3) status or operate under a fiscal sponsor with documentation. Programs must directly engage youth living in New York City or Westchester County and must align with one or more of the following focus areas: health and wellness, equity and justice, youth development, job preparedness or training, and carceral diversion systems. Entities affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian are not eligible to apply.

Grant funds may be used to cover programmatic expenses such as staff salaries directly tied to program delivery, supplies and materials, stipends for youth employment, and operational costs like space rental fees. Funds may not be used for strategic planning, general staff salaries not tied to the program, non-summer programming expenses, research, data collection, conference attendance, or membership fees.

The application process requires submission of a complete application form, a project budget, and documentation of 501(c)(3) status or fiscal sponsorship. Applications must be submitted via email to SYEG@nyp.org by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025. Finalists will be selected based on proposal quality, clarity, feasibility, community need, evaluation plans, budget realism, and evidence of past success. The review committee may follow up with finalists for additional information before making final award decisions.

Selected grantees must sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) committing to participate in a site visit, a check-in call, and complete both a final narrative and budget report, as well as an exit survey. For application questions, applicants may contact par9078@nyp.org. Additional information and updates about community events and future grant opportunities are available through the NewYork-Presbyterian community affairs newsletter.
