Collective Grants 2025

Private
WA Women’s Foundation

This grant provides unrestricted funding to nonprofits in Washington state that are focused on advancing equity in healthcare, climate and agricultural justice, and education, particularly for marginalized communities.

Description

The 2025 Collective Grants, offered by the Washington Women’s Foundation (WA Women’s Foundation), support nonprofits dedicated to advancing equity in Washington state. Each year, members of the foundation select specific focus areas from a set of themes determined by community input. These themes rotate biennially, with 2025 focusing on Healthcare, Climate & Agricultural Justice, and Education. Grants are awarded based on priorities announced each October, and applicants initiate the process by submitting a Letter of Inquiry (LOI). Recipients receive a Letter of Understanding (LOU) in June, which formalizes the partnership.

Funding is unrestricted, allowing grantees to apply grant money to their most pressing needs, with exceptions for endowments, pass-through scholarships, or out-of-state projects of Washington-based organizations. Eligible applicants must operate within Washington state, hold tax-exempt status under IRS Section 501(c)(3) or 7871, or be fiscally sponsored by a qualifying organization. This year’s grantmaking will prioritize organizations directly addressing inequities related to race or gender, embedded in and accountable to their communities, and using assets and leadership from within these communities to drive meaningful change.

For 2025, grants will fund initiatives in three thematic areas. First, in Climate & Agricultural Justice, funding will target mitigation and solutions addressing climate impacts in highly affected Washington communities. Second, the Education category will focus on non-traditional adult education, particularly for immigrants, refugees, and adults seeking to enhance employment and civic engagement skills. Third, in Healthcare, the focus is on culturally relevant mental health services for youth (26 years or younger), including mental health support and addiction recovery services.

Organizations must demonstrate a commitment to addressing systemic racial and/or gender inequities, with accountability to those served through leadership, decision-making, or ongoing engagement by individuals directly impacted by the issues being addressed. Grant applicants are asked to detail how their work reduces disparities, whether through direct service, advocacy, or a combination of both. Proposals should reflect an organization’s capacity to drive equitable outcomes for the populations they serve.

The application process opens with an LOI due by December 6, 2024, at 11:45 PM PT. Organizations will be notified of their LOI status by February.
