Opportunities for Additional Support for Commercial Direct Air Capture (DAC) Demonstration Facilities
This funding opportunity is designed to assist developers of direct air capture technologies in securing investment and operational support to scale up their projects and contribute to reducing carbon emissions.
Description
This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations in collaboration with the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management. The intent is to gather public input on approaches that can help direct air capture (DAC) developers in raising project investment capital and achieving sustained operations. The RFI seeks to understand how federal funding can complement existing financial assistance mechanisms and other government incentives to enable and accelerate the commercial scale-up of DAC technologies. The OCED was established to accelerate market adoption of clean energy technologies and fill a critical innovation gap towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The DAC Hubs program, which is part of OCED's portfolio, includes a $3.5 billion investment to develop four regional DAC hubs, each capable of capturing at least 1 million metric tons of CO2 annually.
